Get involved

Do you want to learn more about how to use Lidar, and help to discover what features and previously unknown archaeology can be found in the landscape? The Arfordir Penfro Lidar Portal is designed to not only view the Lidar data, but to be a tool for mapping and interpreting it.

The process

In order to use the Portal, you must first register for an account. Once you are logged-in, you can take the online training course for volunteers. When you have completed the training course you are ready to map features in the Arfordir Penfro portal and will automatically get access to the Arfordir Penfro Lidar map.

From time to time, the National Park will host online catch up meetings for volunteers and we’d love you to join the community and talk about the features you have been identified.

We’d like to welcome you

When you sign up to join our volunteer team you’ll be able to access an online training course and you must complete this course before you are able to access the Lidar portal.

The training covers everything you need to know from what is Lidar and how it works, how it is used to understand the historic landscape and what sorts of features we can record. There is also a “how-to” section with videos showing how to use the Arfordir Penfro Portal to map features.

From time to time, the National Park will host online catch up meetings for volunteers to ask questions and discuss the features that have been found.
